If you've been in to Michaels Bakery recently, you may have noticed the cookies in the case look a little different. They're bigger. They're packed with more of what makes each kind worth coming back for. And the recipes are better than they've ever been.
We took the time to revisit every single cookie in our lineup, refine what was already working, and dial up the parts that customers told us they loved. The result is five cookies we're genuinely proud of, and a couple that even surprised us.
Chocolate Chip $2.50
The classic that everything else has to live up to. Soft in the middle, slightly crisp at the edges, and so loaded with chocolate chips you'll find some in every bite. We resisted the urge to overcomplicate it, this is the chocolate chip cookie you remember, just bigger and better.
Oatmeal Raisin $2.50
This is the one we want to talk about, because it changes minds. The new recipe leans into the warm, almost-toffee flavor that makes a great oatmeal cookie great, and uses plump raisins instead of dried-out ones (the small difference that makes the biggest difference).
"I casually mentioned that I don't like oatmeal raisin cookies. They talked me into trying one and now I can no longer say I dislike oatmeal raisin cookies."
Hunter Shearer, Google Review
If you're an oatmeal-raisin skeptic, this is the cookie that's going to flip you. Don't take our word for it, Hunter didn't either.
Peanut Butter $2.50
The peanut butter cookie that peanut butter people have been waiting for. Real peanut butter (not just peanut butter flavor), crisp criss-cross fork marks on top, soft and slightly chewy inside. It tastes like the kind your grandma used to make, if your grandma was a really, really good baker.
Deluxe Chocolate $2.50
The chocolate-on-chocolate cookie for the days when one kind of chocolate just isn't enough. Deep cocoa dough, rich chocolate chunks, soft center, almost-brownie texture. If you like the corner pieces of a brownie, this is your cookie.
Iced Cutout Cookies $2.50
The one that's almost too pretty to eat. We pipe each iced cutout by hand, roses, seasonal shapes, custom designs for events. The sugar cookie underneath is soft and buttery, and the icing sets just enough to handle without losing the rich buttercream taste. Great as a single treat, even better as a gift box.
Stop in and Pick Your Favorite
All five are in the case now, all $2.50, all worth the trip. If you can't decide, get one of each, that's what they're priced for. We've been baking in downtown Orrville since 1985, and we still get excited when a new recipe lands the way these did. Come try them, we think they'll surprise you, too.
